SEACLIFFS and ROCKS . . . my daughter's birthday painting
As requested I painted for her again this year. We may have started a yearly practice since giving gifts has become increasingly difficult as we just go and get most of what we want these days.
My daughter has an eye for beauty and there is much to look at around here where I live that is beautiful. She photographs what she likes, so I asked her to send me some that would reflect her vision of Cliffs and Rocks. I waited for them to be sent to me via e-mail since we live far apart and when nothing happened began without them. I was almost finished when four of them arrived. The painting I did looked very much like a cropped version of one of the photos. They are very lovely in themselves.
And here is the painting . . .it seems we share a vision of cliffs and rocks.

It's been my experience that there is a form of genetic sensibility, nurture or nature, whichever you prefer...So it doesn't come as a surprise, to me at least, that there are very obvious similarities between what your daughter would have chosen and what you created without her input.

thanks for your comment on the cliffs and rocks. I wonder what just living near them and being exposed to some of the same vistas could have made the connection. Often I look without seeing, since I' usually on my way past them, but sometimes I stop and just enjoy She's here so seldom that it's an adventure for her so she really SEES and makes note and even takes pictures. She has more feally lovely ones I'm going to post. I wonder how much memory they allow me for all these pictures.

Love your painting!
Last year I drew a picture of my daughter's face and wrote a poem which I wrote all around the drawing... she was 15 years old, and she had tears in her eyes!
I wish I had some of my mother's artwork. She was extreamly talented... but after she died I couldn't find anything... and she never gave any to me...
Great Gift!

anon what a lovely idea the poem incorporated within the art and all of it from your heart. She will treasure it.
I finally got the birthday "gift" mailed to her. It was easier than I thought, a tube and the service cost about six dollars. . .not bad huh?
