still watching that smokey mountain

It's interesting to me and I guess others. Mt. St Helens wearing a smoky ashy cap continues to fascinate me. In 1980 when she erupted blowing out her north side no longer able to contain the fire in her bones, I was diagnosed with fire in mine. ARTHRITIcE and painted this picture about it.

The bones of the earth relate to a Greek myth in which the GOOD MAN and HIS WIFE all that were left of humanity after one of the many purges, as the gods continued to experiment, were told that they could repopulate the world with THE BONES OF THE EARTH.

It took them many years to figure out what that meant and only then by accident when clearing a field of rocks they tossed them away over their left shoulders. Each rock as it fell to earth sprang back up as a warrior (in one version just a person in another) and I suppose began fight each other forth with. Anyhow, here is "MOUNT ST. HELENS AND ME". in oil paint and four by seven feet 1980.
